Did you know - Echuca was founded by Henry Hopwood, an ex-convict who in 1850 bought a small punt which operated across the Murray River. The settlement was originally know as 'Hopwoods Ferry until named 'Echuca' in 1854.

    Echuca - Moama is home to Australia's largest collection of operating paddlesteamers. The famous wharf once reached for 1.2 km's and was the main transport point along the Murray River for transport of goods to Melbourne. Today there are six paddlesteamers which ply the Murray offering visitors an informative insite into Echuca - Moama's history.
