Did you know - Echuca was founded by Henry Hopwood, an ex-convict who in 1850 bought a small punt which operated across the Murray River. The settlement was originally know as 'Hopwoods Ferry until named 'Echuca' in 1854.

Echuca Regional Park is a good location for a 13km or 14km day walk. A 1:25,000 or 1:50,000 map will be useful. It is suggested you start upstream somewhere along the Stewarts Bridge Road and walk downstream on tracks close to the Murray river, finishing, say, at Cape Horn Vineyard. A car shuttle is required.
